Dedication of Reiko’s Kitchen

On Wednesday, September 19, we honored the lasting legacy of the late Reiko Kurahara with the dedication of a special plaque outside the renowned “Reiko’s Kitchen” at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento.

Reiko was a cornerstone of our community, deeply devoted to the Sangha. Her dedication was most evident in the countless hours she spent preparing meals and treats every week for the Sunday Dharma School students and their families. Over time, her contributions gave rise to "Reiko's Kitchen and crew,” a symbol of her boundless generosity.

For more than 50 years, she led the ever-popular tempura booth at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento Bazaar—small in stature but mighty in spirit. Though she is no longer with us, her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her and in the kitchen that bears her name. She is missed but never forgotten.
