125th Anniversary: Cars & Coffee
The Buddhist Church of Sacramento will host our 125th Anniversary Cars & Coffee event in our interior parking lot. Free coffee and pastries. No registration is needed.
Gotanye Service
The traditional music service and ochigo procession will be held at our Gotan-E service in observance of Shinran Shonin’s birthday. Shinran Shonin is the founder of Jodo Shinshu (Shin) Buddhism. Signifying Shinran’s entering the Shoren-In Temple to become a monk at age 9, our third grade Dharma School students will participate in the ochigo procession.
Please join us as we welcome Special Guest Speaker, Bishop Tatsuya Aoki, of the Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temples of Canada.

Sacramento Buddhist School - Adult Buddhist Study
Rev. Yuki continues his Sacramento Buddhist School - Adult Study Class the 4th Friday of the month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in classrooms 1 and 4. The May class is scheduled for May 24, 2024 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the Hondo. May's subject is Japanese Buddhism.

Families & Friends Picnic
Join us for our annual Friends and Families picnic at Marriott Park in the Pocket area of Sacramento. The picnic runs from 9:30 - 1:00 with Dharma service at 10:00 in the park. There will be free food - hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, salad, fruit dessert and drinks. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blanket and enjoy family games. While not required, we are requesting people to sign up click here.

78th Annual Japanese Food and Cultural Bazaar

For over 75 years, our beloved Bazaar has always been something to look forward to and to reminisce. For one day in August, visitors and Sangha members alike enjoy a vast array of Japanese food, cultural events, music, and games.
The words “Thank You” are not enough to express our gratitude to the Greater Sacramento community for their patronage over the decades. It is through the continued support of our families, friends and visitors, as well as hundreds of dedicated volunteers, that enable us to keep this longstanding tradition alive as a highlight of the summer!

Sacramento Dharma no Kai with Rev. Yuki
Monthly class that focuses on the reading of Tannisho, a two-part work representing a compilation of teachings by Shinran. At each session, parts of Tannisho will be discussed with commentary from scholars. Class is conducted in Japanese.

12th Oldies-But-Goodies Dance Spring Fling!
Hosted by our Adult Buddhist Association and DJ-ed by “Dr. Don” Kazama who will play music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s! Pupus and hosted refreshments will be provided. If you have 8 or more in your group, you can reserve a table.
Masks are not required, but recommended. All attendees must be vaccinated and boosted. Maximum number of attendees will be 200.
